A bank connection can keep supported balances and transactions current without repeated CSV imports. Availability depends on your subscription, institution, account type, and region.

Before you begin

Make sure you can sign in to your bank and complete its verification method. Use your own Plutus session and avoid starting the connection from a shared device.

Connect a bank

  1. Open Assets or Debts and select the add action, or go to Settings → Data → Connections.
  2. Select Connect bank.
  3. Search for and choose the institution.
  4. Continue to the provider’s secure authorisation flow.
  5. Review the access being requested and approve it with the bank.
  6. Select the accounts you want to bring into Plutus.
  7. Return to Plutus and wait for the connection to finish.

Your bank credentials are entered with the bank or connection provider. Do not send them to Plutus support.

Check the first sync

Connected accounts should appear under Assets or Debts in the portfolio that was selected when you started the connection. Open one and compare its balance and recent activity with the bank. Initial transaction history and timing vary by institution.

Do not create manual copies of missing transactions while the initial sync is still running.

Manage a connection

Open Settings → Data → Connections to review connected institutions. Depending on the provider and connection state, you may be able to reconnect, renew consent, change sync coverage, or disconnect it.

Disconnecting stops future updates. Read the confirmation to understand what happens to accounts and previously imported data.

Banks can require consent to be renewed periodically. When Plutus reports that login or consent is required, start the reconnect action from the existing connection. This helps Plutus match the renewed provider accounts to their existing history.

Common problems

  • If the institution is not listed, use a CSV or manual account instead.
  • If authorisation returns to an error page, wait briefly and restart from Plutus.
  • If only some accounts appear, reconnect and ensure they are included in provider consent.
  • If an existing account becomes duplicated, stop editing both copies and contact support.
